The Love Birds.. ./. Have Been Split.. ./ /.
You’ve found me../. And I’m yours to keep../ …For free ./ .
I’m sure that most of us when walking the streets pay very little attention to our immediate surroundings and the creatures we share it with. Most of it gets swept past our eyes and shoved off the pavement as we rush to be somewhere we most likely don’t want to be. These birds, in a way are much like you. They are somewhere they don’t want to be and they want to go home to the one they love. So if you’re the lucky one happen across one of these stray birds take them in and they will love you always,.. . /. /././ .
Go one step further, for each bird left on the street there is an equal and opposite waiting. Bring them to the show where their loved one awaits.. ./.

The Last Day Together. .. . . . /./. /. /
Tomorrow i am set to separate the love birds.. . potentially forever. /. It’s there last night together in the warmth./. They are saying their farewells and enjoying what time is left.
There’s every chance this won’t last forever../. there’s every chance they were meant to be together.. /. I hope those who find them feel the same.. /.
Love Birds/. . /. Project. /.
Love Birds Free Art Giveaway. /.
As part of the Solo Exhibition Fragments there will be a free art giveaway in the build-up to the show. This side project is based around the theme of the show that everything experienced remembered and observed is fragmented, everything that is can be said to be broken or fractured in some way or made up of different elements. And it is with that in mind that I have painted pairs of ‘Love Birds’ both of these creatures complement and complete each other in a way that for most lovers is just a fantasy. But like everything I see that holds real beauty there is a drama and tragedy to that story and so for these birds it’s the same.
I plan to split up each couple and display them separately. One set of the love birds will be displayed in the warmth and safety of the Jewry street gallery and the other halves of the pigeons I will display around the streets of Winchester exposed to the elements and are destined to be given away for free. But there is hope for each couple, the birds left out in the cold of the urban landscape will hold this message../. .
You’ve found me../. And I’m yours to keep ../ … For free ./ ../

The finder will be invited to bring their pigeon to the show on opening night and reunite it with its partner. The pigeons on display at the gallery will be available for sale if the finder wishes to reunite them for good. Other people will be able to buy the pigeons on display even if they have not found the partner but finders will have priority over any bidders.
It is my hope that all the pigeons will find their way back to the show and all the couples will be reunited, once reunited if bought, the finders will be invited to leave the corresponding pigeons with their partners until the end of the show at which point both will be sent to their new home. Through doing this I hope to highlight that when in this fragmented world two pieces fit together it is the most important thing to keep them together. In this drama of being separated, once reunited the pigeons bond and the owners resolve to keep them together will be solidified.
A hand full more birds set to be separated in Winchester.. /. Lets hope they find their way back together, , . ./ /.
Down To The Bone. .. . .///. / .
Down To The Bone.. / /. Last night was meet the artist night at the Onca gallery for DTTB.
DTTB is A collective exhibition of works from varied disciplines in recognition and support of street dogs living overseas. To be hung, open to the public at ONCA Gallery, 14 St George’s Place, Brighton from the 24th until the 30th Sept 2013.
ONCA has a passion for art that integrates with environmental conservation and strives to raise awareness of how environmental change affects every living thing. For whatever reason the dogs we are caring for have found themselves abandoned by owners and on the street. Be it economical, governmental or even military, we have changed their environment and so ONCA Gallery is a most welcome and supportive venue for this collection of work.
There are many street dogs needing support all over the world so why have we chosen to help those in Portugal and Spain? One of the organisers of the exhibition has, for many years, worked in these countries and has seen problems and suffering on a scale that does not happen here in England. There are too many dogs in shelters in the UK awaiting adoption but we have a support network – the animals here, in the main, have basic but good care, water, food a dry bed. Even these most simple needs are not met abroad, the dogs really do have to live on the street or if rounded up they are kept in appalling conditions for a few days before being PTS (put to sleep). These dogs have crossed the organiser’s path, called out for help and had their cries answered. This special lady has seen the problem in her own environment and has taken action. These are the dogs that all funds raised through the exhibition will help.
I was very proud to be invited to take part in this show and to be exhibited along side such well established artists././ .

A while back on a freezing winter night a very close friend of mine was putting on a show in the monument gallery castle in Southampton, right at the last minute he need to find a photographer.. . . and well i have a camera and i liked the acts playing so i was chosen. The venue its self was enough of an excuse to go along but the bands on the bill were all fantastic too. The head-liner who i was especially enthusiastic about was Franz Nicolay previously of The Hold Steady. I’d seen and met him once before but that as only in passing, So i knew i had to go.
Though the heating in the venue had packed up by the time the show started the whole evening flew by in a blizzard of sub zero temperatures and snow white smiles. Everyone had had an awesome evening shouting along in a castle and i had got thousands of photos. Upon arriving home post gig i started reviewing the photos, i noticed that Franz was a hard man to capture still. I had quite a good collection of blurred faces, i decided to keep them for future reference. I later forgot about them and carried on painting as i normally would.
But Yesterday i stumbled upon them again and decided to do a quick series on Franz’s head, i had some old bits of slate lying around and so i figured considering the venue this would be the perfect medium. . … . . .. …. . . /. Here is ‘Franz Head Collection I-V’
