I am very pleased to announce that i will be taking part in a group show this September to raise money for homeless dogs. I am also humbled to be held in such high esteem being invited to exhibit along side some of Brighton’s biggest players, having only lived here its a real honor to be included in the list of exhibitors.
You can find out more details about the show here for which i will be donating existing art works and creating an original piece.

Regulars to my blog would have noted that last Upfest i also painted at the notorious Rock & Bowl hostel, Every Upfest they open up their doors and invite artists from around the world to leave their mark at the hostel. Last year i was honored to be offered a space of my own and leapt on the opportunity https://jakobbelbin.wordpress.com/2012/06/06/rock-n-bowl/ Though this year i was not staying at the hostel, their winsome manager “Matty B” extended the same offer to me once more. This time round i was a year older and had a partner in crime so i went for something completely different and chose a completely different space under the recommendation of Matty B. Its the only dark wall in the hostel and is the entrance to the smoking area. . / ./. These devastating beauty’s are 8 feet tall and were painted in about 2-3hours . /.// // …./ .
Painted using Spray Paint, Acrylic and Poscas
The Crab and Japanese were crafted by Frin.. ./. Translation “They’re So Pretty!”

He’s something to balance out the niceties of the last post… /. This piece has been painted on an old dart board box, the box itself is as you would expect covered in misfired shots and dart holes. I found it on one my travels the other week and it seemed like the perfect surface for this idea i had sitting in my sketch book for far too long…/..

Photos from a recent commission.. /. Unfortunately i was not good enough to take photos of the whole process so you’ll just have to make do with close ups of the finished product../.
This painting is unlike pretty much all of my works as its a bit more focused on creating the realism of the cat and mouse but i was a piece i thoroughly enjoyed and very much in love with.. ..//. its a shame (for me) that it already has a loving home to go to.. . /.

Free Art Friday
I’m sure that most of us when walking the streets pay very little attention to our immediate surroundings and the creatures that we share it with. Most of it gets swept past our eyes and shoved off the pavement as we rush to be somewhere we most likely don’t want to be. These free art birds, in a way are much like you. They are somewhere they don’t want to be too, they also want to go home. So if you happen across one of these stray birds, take them in and they will love you always.. .. ../ .. /.//./ .
